Kevin James Mack, President of Via Licensing Alliance, is a seasoned patent attorney and intellectual property executive with over two decades of experience operating at the intersection of business, law, and technology.

Most recently he served as the Vice President of IP & Legal Strategy at Dolby Laboratories, where he led the IP Protection business function, which consists of an international team of over 40 professionals responsible for brand protection, license compliance, and IP security. Under his leadership, Dolby has successfully negotiated and secured hundreds of patent licensing and settlement deals, while driving overall growth in the IP Protection business.

Previously, Kevin served as Senior Director of Patents at Dolby, where he expanded the company’s patent portfolio to more than 8,100 issued patents and 4,200 pending applications across 100 jurisdictions. He also represented Dolby in major patent pools and standard-setting organizations, significantly increasing the company’s share of revenue in key patent pools. Earlier in his career, Kevin was a senior associate at Skadden Arps, where he represented leading financial exchanges in high-stakes intellectual property litigation with exposure exceeding $500 million. He also held executive roles as SVP & General Counsel at a Silicon-Valley startup, overseeing corporate legal, technology, and business development functions.

Kevin holds a J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, and dual master’s degrees in Management Science and Electrical Engineering from Stanford University. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Information Technology from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, where he was awarded the Rensselaer Medal for Scholastic Achievement.

Admitted to practice before the State Bar of California, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, and the United States Patent & Trademark Office, Kevin is also certified by the International Association of Privacy Professionals. He is an active member of several professional organizations, including the Association of Corporate Counsel, the American Intellectual Property Law Association, and the Licensing Executives Society International.
